Dr. Funny and our long-tenured team welcome families from University City and the surrounding communities, offering a calm, kid-friendly office where every visit is built around the child sitting in our chair. Our office is located at 2325 W Arbors Drive, Suite 104, in Charlotte’s University City area, just minutes from UNC Charlotte and the I-85 and I-485 corridors. We chose this location intentionally to serve one of North Carolina’s fastest-growing family corridors, where families with children at every stage of childhood live within a few minutes of our front door.
The University City area we call home is full of young families, working parents and children at every stage of dental development. We see our young patients through many of their dental milestones. From their first tooth, first cleaning, and eventually sealants and laser treatments and preparing for orthodontic care, our team supports your child through each phase of their dental journey. According to the CDC’s 2024 Oral Health Surveillance Report, about 11% of children ages 2 to 5 already have one or more primary teeth with untreated decay, which is exactly why establishing a dental home early matters so much. We work hard to be that home for the families in our community.
While our roots are in University City, our patients drive in from communities all across the greater Charlotte metropolitan area. Some come for routine cleanings and exams, while others travel from much further for our tongue-tie and lip-tie treatments, which draw infants and toddlers from across the Carolinas. Dr. Funny is one of the few female pediatric dentists in the region with deep experience in laser dentistry and frenectomy procedures. We also serve children with special needs and dental anxiety, with a sensory-friendly office featuring dim lighting, quiet operatories and sensory tools for kids who need a calmer setup. Whether your child is here for a routine preventive visit, a same-day dental emergency or a laser-assisted procedure, our team is built to meet them where they are.
For tongue-tie and lip-tie releases, we regularly see infants and toddlers whose parents have driven well over an hour, often referred by lactation consultants, speech-language pathologists or pediatric airway specialists. We coordinate these appointments carefully so that out-of-town families can complete their child’s evaluation, functional assessment review and laser-assisted release in as few visits as possible.
We also welcome regional patients for sedation dentistry, special needs care and complex restorative work in cases where local options are limited. Our team will help coordinate paperwork, scheduling and follow-up so that families traveling longer distances can feel as supported as our neighborhood patients.
