University Pediatric Dentistry has cared for Charlotte families for over 15 years as a private, owner-operated practice. We are not part of a dental service organization, which means the decisions about your child’s care are made here in our office by the dentist who treats them. Dr. Funny is proud to be a third-generation small business owner, and that sense of ownership shapes the personal, unhurried care families feel from their very first visit.
Much of our team has been with us for well over a decade, so the faces your family sees tend to stay the same year after year. As a female pediatric dentist and a mother herself, Dr. Funny built this practice around what she would want for her own children, a place where kids feel safe and parents feel heard.
Our practice is led by Dr. Funny, a board-certified pediatric dentist and a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. Dr. Funny completed her undergraduate studies at Howard University and went on to earn her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at New York University. She began her career treating patients in both public health and private practice before joining University Pediatric Dentistry in 2009, and she is also a mother, which shapes the way our team cares for every family who walks through our doors.
Dr. Funny is a board-certified pediatric dentist and a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. She completed her undergraduate studies at Howard University and earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at New York University, followed by a pediatric dental residency at Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center in the Bronx, New York. She holds memberships in the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the North Carolina Association of Pediatric Dentistry, the American Dental Association and the National Dental Association, and she takes part locally in the Old North State Dental Society and the Sharon L. Holley Study Club. Dr. Funny has also earned repeat recognition as a Charlotte TOP Dentist.
As a private, owner-operated practice, we take a personal and individualized approach to every visit. Our long-tenured team knows our families by name, and our goal is always to do what is right for each child rather than recommend treatment that is not clearly needed. From a child’s very first dental visit through the teen years, we focus on prevention, gentle care, and building the kind of trust that helps children feel at ease at the dentist for life.
