My son had a tongue and lip tie reversal with Dr Funny yesterday. The office was very clean and has many Covid safety measures put in place. Her staff is extremely friendly and she even called us this morning to check in with us herself. Our 6 week old daughter had a tongue tie, so Dr. Funny performed a frenectomy. Before the appointment, Dr. Funny personally called us to ask if we had any questions prior to the appointment. At the consultation, she was very thorough and helpful. She answered all of our questions and explained the process in detail. Her assistant, Kelly, was also wonderful to work with. Dr. Funny called to check in the day after the procedure and made it known she’s available any time if we have questions or concerns. We really appreciate Dr. Funny’s thoroughness and kindness. Plus, the office itself was inviting and filled with friendly employees, while also taking health precautions to ensure everyone’s safety. We highly recommend University Pediatric Dentistry.

Dr. Funny and her team performed our 5 week olds tongue and lip tie procedures using a CO2 laser. We could not ask for a better experience. The actual procedure takes less than a minute total but Dr. Funny and her team spend close to an hour explaining the process, answering questions, and demonstrating the required home care. Everyone that I came into contact with at the office struck the perfect balance between being warm and professional. Also, much effort was made to ensure the safety of all involved given the fact that we’re in the middle of a pandemic. Can’t recommend this office enough.

Everyone here is absolutely amazing! I have 2 boys, 6yrs old and 3 yrs old and they love going to the Dentist because Dr. Maynor and Dr.Funny and all The Staff here are always so kind, gentle, and caring. I love them too because they are extremely knowledgeable and helpful with answering and providing the information needed to all my questions. We moved a little further away from their office and I have never once thought to go somewhere closer. I want my boys to have the best dental experiences therefore we make the 30 min drive there as needed. We highly recommend University Pediatrics!

My son is 16 years old and has severe Autism. He is terrified of the dentist and can be uncooperative. Dr. Maynor goes the extra mile to make sure he feels comfortable. She spends extra time with him and makes sure he doesn’t experience sensory overload. She is patient and kind. My son is a big teenager so I always bring my husband as support as well. Dr. Maynor makes sure we get scheduled right before the practice opens so my son does not have to wait and my husband can get to work. Recently, my son had an abscessed tooth. Dr. Maynor saw him as an emergency visit on Friday and texted with me the following day about next steps. He had to have the tooth removed over the weekend in the hospital. Dr. Maynor even cut a visit with her family short to get back to town to see him in the hospital. I don’t know other dentists who would do that.
I would highly recommend Dr. Maynor to parents of children with different needs. I don’t believe you can find a more knowledgeable and kind dentist. My son has been her patient for at least five years and I am always impressed by her professionalism and understanding.

This was my 1 year olds (23 months) first time at the Dentist! We prepare her prior with dentist kid videos! But the staff was amazing with her. No tears at all! My daughter didn’t like the cleaning part but the hygienist change it to the tooth brush and my daughter was fine after! Highly recommend this place. They listened and validated all my concerns. Definitely coming back for my little one!

The hygienist and Dr. Funny were GREAT! It was our daughter’s first Dentist Appt (she’s 2). My husband was greeted when he first arrived. He was also asked to wash his hands several times throughout the appointment. This gave him more comfort as COVID is still a big concern.
The hygienist made sure she communicated with our daughter and talke through everything she was going to do which made the appointment run smoothly. We appreciate the staff of University Pediatric Dentistry and look forward to our future appointments.

They do a wonderful job as members of toddler’s healthcare team! Everyone we have spent time with has been extremely friendly, helpful, kind, and empathetic. Dr. Funny is a quiet but strong force in that office and strives to make sure she spends ample time with you explaining the pros/cons. We just had our 4th visit to the office and will stay with them as long as we are in Charlotte (most visits were for for cold laser frenectomy for his tongue and lip tie; most recent visit for his first dental visit). They are amazing!

They are so patient with children and let the kids decide what they are ready for. The emphasis on the experience is so wonderful because too many people, including myself, haven’t had positive experiences at the dentist. My one year old is still scared, because it’s difficult to communicate things with her, but my four year old has been excited for visits. He is hit or miss with cooperation levels, but they let him decide when he is ready and it was so nice to see him jump into the chair on his own to get his cleaning. Can’t recommend this practice enough. They are truly the best.

Best experience ever! I could feel the nurturing energy when I called to schedule the appointment. Before my soon to be three year olds first appointment Dr. Funny called to ask if I had any questions or concerns which made me feel a bit more relaxed about what to expect. From the moment we walked in the door every staff member greeted my son with warmth and we’re happy to engage with his “treasure hunt” adventure that I hold him we were on. He enjoyed every moment of the visit and fully cooperated I believe because the hygienist so patiently explained every step and even demonstrated each tool on his hand. I couldn’t believe we were in and out in less than 30 minutes with not a single tear. Best thing a nervous moment could ask for. Looking forward to his next visit!
