You might think that treating a child’s baby teeth isn’t that imperative since they’re going to fall out on their own sooner or later anyway. However, caring for baby teeth is a must because, without them, adult (also called permanent) teeth will not come in straight, but instead crowded and crooked. Here are some tips on treating your child’s baby teeth when your child is younger than three:
Use toothpaste to brush your child’s teeth as soon as they erupt. Because your child has only very little chompers, you won’t need to use very much toothpaste. Dab a rice-grain-sized bit of toothpaste onto your child’s brush and brush their chompers thoroughly. Do this two times a day. Again, although this might seem to be overkill, tooth decay can begin as soon as chompers appear, so it’s imperative to begin cleaning the chompers right away. Tooth breakdown has been proven to negatively impact the physical, mental and emotional wellbeing of children.
